It is important for businesses to stay on top of new technology in order to keep up to date with their work. Especially for office work, having reliable equipment is crucial in the day to day functioning of your business. No matter what equipment you upgrade to it is necessary to recycle the old when you bring in the new. Recycling companies all over the world welcome your old electronics. This does not only save you the hassle of having to dispose them, but protects the environment as well. It is a convenient way to throw your materials away without simply placing them in the trash can, but recycling them and helping the planet little by little.

Many businesses neglect calling for a recycling company because they feel their items are too small or too large. The size of your electronics is irrelevant to their goal to protect the world. Things such as your computer’s keyboard, mouse, or cord are constantly getting replaced and can easily be picked up by your local recycling services. On the other hand, some businesses have huge printers and copy machines. Their trucks are large enough to hold these items and they will gladly remove them for you. It is already a big enough pain having to purchase new equipment let alone lug a 500 pound machine to the dumpster.

Where are your business’s old electronics going after being collected? Recycling companies understand that your products may contain private matters that need to be erased from existence as soon as possible. For this reason, they go directly to the recycling facility. These facilities are designed to destroy your electronics immediately to rid the risk of the wrong hands getting in touch with them. As all electronics are separated in to categories they can then destroy all the ones containing private information first. They can assure you of this and make it very simply for you to view the entire process your products went through. When they entered the facility, when they were sorted, and when they were destroyed.

Not only do recycling companies offer the convenience of picking up your old electronics, but they also allow you to drop them off yourself. When something breaks at random you may need to replace it the next day and get the old product immediately out of its place. Simply drop these items and feel confident that they will undergo the same process as if they were picked up. You can always be sure that your electronics will be safely destroyed. Recycling overall is a safe and easy way to not just help your company, but to help the environment too.

The Cisco VOIP is similar to calling on your telephone, only that instead of the traditional copper wires and the analog telephone exchange where the call is routed to, the VOIP uses the internet to route your calls.

In a business where telephone clarity or the clarity of the voice is important, the Cisco VOIP is unparalleled as compared to a traditional telephone system. Normally when your business relies on the calls that the customer makes to your company, the quality of the call rises above everything else, as the quality of the voice of both the customer and the support representative is paramount to be able to complete the call and give profits to the business that you are running.

But there is also an increasing use of the Cisco VOIP to route calls to and from the management side of the company, and not just the support side. In order to differentiate the management side of the company, you can imagine the support side as the agent who receives an incoming call from the customer. Whatever the customer wants, the agent should be able to hear it clearly and respond accordingly.

The management side of the company includes the clerks who do the accounting or the company, the secretaries who receive incoming calls from prospective clients, etc. People who own and run companies are finding out the advantages of Cisco VOIP as opposed to even using the traditional PABX system.

Although the PABX or The Private Automatic Branch Exchange handles all incoming and outgoing calls going to most of the company departments, an increasing number of companies are using a hybrid system of VOIP and the traditional PABX in handling both calls to and from the departments and to/from the support side.

The biggest difference to using the VOIP is the clarity of the voice and the efficiency of the system that it uses. While it is true that you still use internet bandwidth when using VOIP, advancements in the field of data compression allows a whole lot more voice channels to be integrated into a data channel that comprises just one ordinary telephone line. This means that if you manage to compress up to 7 to 10 actual voice data channels in your internet DSL line, this is equivalent to having up to 10 people talk to each other using just one ordinary telephone line.

Not only that, while you are able to compress the voice data in real time using the same internet that everybody is using, you are still able to use the rest of the internet for other uses, like managing your web application for the Cisco VOIP that you are using, search for answers to the question that the customer gave to you or even follow up on customers who you have to call back and more.

The chief advantage of using Cisco VOIP is the huge number of voice data channels that you can use over ordinary telephone lines. This is coupled with the fact that the VOIP is also backward interconnected to the traditional telephone systems so that you can also call anyone, anywhere in world in real time.

Need more information on Cisco VOIP?

Lately, cloud-based computing has emerged amongst the most favored mode of computing. Also included is SaaS (Software as a Service) development. Instances of cloud computing are Gmail by Google – Contrast to local installing on the PC, it is set up on a remote server employing the user’s Internet browser.

Question is, can technical documentation progress in the same direction? We shall look at a few approaches.

Why Cloud?

Many reasons come to light for a Technical Writer to make use of cloud-based authoring tools.

Firstly, we have the cost factor. Rather than buying an application, cloud-dependent tools are usually presented on a monthly fee. If you plan to shift to a DITA environment, cloud computing can translate into a viable expense option. Costs normally linked with procuring a DITA option is a great example.

Here are a few other reasons cloud-dependent tools are an inexpensive solution.
In case you hire a technical authoring partner or contractors, cloud lets you add them in a fast and easy manner to the authoring system.Cloud computing normally offers the avenue to work in a collaborative writing context. In case you have staffed an external technical author, cloud offers the chance to make minor updates to your documentation on a later stage.
Check in/out Aspect

In case your firm has remote staff or collaborative writing, you really don’t need to shift towards a cloud-dependent system. Prominent authoring tools like FrameMaker and RoboHelp employ a check in/out design rather than a cloud-dependent model. Technical Authors can check out content on a topic and later edit it remotely. The writer may then check in the finished content back in the topic by email.

For the check in/out model to work, the Help Authoring needs to be installed on the author’s computers. Also, you can’t keep an eye while they write. However, this is an approach worth pondering.

Personal Cloud

Several firms blindly include remote employees to their present network. The company holds it own personal cloud – a VPN (Virtual Private Network). Usually, the IT guys decide if the remote worker has to be granted access to the network.

As an alternative, you can build a personal cloud dedicated towards your department. A server within the Cloud can be built utilizing the EC2 service by Amazon or options by firms such as Azure or RackSpace.

In case you chose not to inform the IT guys about the creation of your personal VPN, ensure it is within your firms IT policy.

The rationale behind choosing a cloud-dependent system is as valid in the Tech Writing Department as it is with other groups. As time passes by it is likely that this service may take further flight.

Melvin Fernandes is an Information Developer at Duchakki. He is responsible for technical documentation and content curation. His expertise lie in writing technical documentation (paper and on-line), help text and content development.

For samples on technical documentation please visit: http://www.duchakki.com/

There are a lot of different kinds of IT agreements out there, and probably just as many questions over what represents a good value and what doesn’t. But when it comes to prepaying for billable technology hours, business owners arrive at a particularly interesting conundrum: They’re likely to save money if they buy up front, but they also run the risk of purchasing technology help that they won’t need or use in the near future.

So should your company prepay for billable IT hours?

The short answer, from our point of view, is it depends. And what it depends on is the arrangement you’ve worked out with your IT computer support specialist or IT services provider. If you’re simply paying for a discounted “block of time” that you can use within six months or a year, for example, then we’re going to go against the grain and say it’s not advisable. After all, that might be great for your business IT consulting provider’s cash flow, but unless you are planning to have technology problems, then there’s no way to be certain that expense is ever going to be of value for you. And if you are planning on having technology problems, then why not fix them now before they end up costing your business more money?

We aren’t meaning to imply that your IT provider wants to take your money and run, but in such a situation, where is their incentive to go the extra mile for you? They’ve gotten their money, so it’s up to you to think of something for them to do.

That being said, there is a second kind of “prepaid” arrangement that we would recommend: a managed services agreement. What’s the difference? With IT managed services, you’re paying the same thing to your IT provider every month whether you have a problem or not. Unlike purchasing a block of hours, this puts them in a position where they’re responsible for keeping your company’s technology working smoothly. Otherwise, it’s only going to take more of their time and expense to get your business back on track. In other words, you aren’t paying for the time, but for the completed job.

That’s a subtle difference, but it’s the difference between a great value and a potential waste of your investment. When it comes to paying for IT up front or at regular intervals, smart business owners will go for managed services every time. It might sound more constricting than just paying for a few hours, but it’s also a much better deal.

Christine Slocumb is the acting VP Marketing for Vision Computer Solutions – a leading Michigan IT solutions company based in Northville, MI. Founded in 1995, Vision Computer Solutions offers managed IT services and Michigan computer consulting services. Headquartered in Northville, Michigan, Vision Computer Solutions is a Microsoft Gold-Certified Partner and Microsoft Small Business Specialist.

Why do a reverse address search? So you’ve got an address, now all you want is the phone number in service there. Plenty of situations arise in which it could be helpful to know the phone number at an address. You might have lost your address book with all your names and numbers. Maybe you just want to get in touch with the owner of a specific location. Whatever your reason is, you will need to do an address for phone number lookup.

Problems that can arise. Getting the current phone number and billing name associated with a particular street address can be tricky. There are countless free online resources that will often times give you results for an address, but when you go to call you find out the number has been disconnected or it now belongs to somebody else. Things can change, people move and change their phone numbers constantly. Even more frustrating than getting the wrong info for free is when you go and pay out of pocket for “instant” results only to get information you could have looked up for free in the white pages. With this being said, avoid any investigation services that claim instant results. Any instant results they give you are more than likely to not be what you want. If you need to find a phone number from an address make sure the investigators are going to hand pick the results, although you may pay a fee, this will better serve you in the end.

What the right kind of number search will provide you with. Ideally, you want to be able to submit any address to your investigation company and get a billing name and 10 digit phone number in return. If you want accurate information do not expect instantaneous results. Ideally the best results can be achieved through a professional private investigator, who process and search each request by hand. They also money back guarantee results when you do a phone number look up by address with them. There may be a fee with investigative services for no hit searches however.

What not to expect. The reverse address search is for people who need a billing name and telephone number for a specific street address only. This type of look up is not for people who need owner info for a cell phone or beeper number. This type of search will also not be beneficial to people expecting info on a 900 or toll free number housed in a location.

The iPad is something that has really changed the way that many of us do business. In fact, there are many things that can be done on this device that can really help to speed up some specific things that we do in today’s business world. Although there are almost endless ways for you to use this new electronic item, here are a few that you will certainly want to investigate for your business needs.

If you own and operate a business, you are likely familiar with how many forms and documents you use on a daily basis. The great thing about owning one of these portable devices is the fact that you can take all of your documents with you. This is especially the case if you work on a remote server so that you can access all of your information, regardless of where you happen to be. Of course, you are going to need to download the right type of application that will assist you in filling out the documents properly. That is true, regardless of whether you are using Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF files, and any text files for business purposes.

Another thing that is done by many businesses is the collection of data for their own internal use. Some of this data can help you to increase your business as well as to look for any problems that may exist. Some people use the iPad in order to gather the information in the first place, while others may use it in order to organize the information so that it can be accessed easily. As is true with the document work that you may be doing on this device, you might also want to consider looking for an application that can be downloaded which will handle this effortlessly.

One more thing that you will want to consider using this device for is taking notes at a meeting. There are applications that can assist you in doing this as well, such as those that recognize handwriting. Being able to take the notes electronically can also help you to upload them, manipulate them, and then print them out for your use at a future time. It is difficult to find any business meeting that does not have at least somebody who is taking notes on their handheld computer.

Of course, all of these things can be enhanced with the right type of options for the iPad. For example, you might want to consider having a professional iPad stand so that you can use the tablet without having to give up both of your hands in the process. If you take mobile payments, there are also mobile payment addons which can be used along with your iPad to swipe or scan a credit card. Of course, your needs for using this device are going to change depending upon the needs of your business, and there are sure to be some items that are available which can help you to get more out of it in the long run.

Connie Chee is the author of this article about tablets and electronic accessories such as a iPad Stand. She has been a marketing manager for over 20 years and now owns an online electronic business offering tablets.

When the internet started it was a tiny network of computer nerds mostly disseminating computer nerd ideas and interests on message boards. They would discuss new equipment, video games, new ways to program, new uses for their computers, Star Wars and Star Trek. As the internet found it’s way into more middle-class homes in the mid to late 90′s it became a place for researching trivia, news, and a lot of media advertising and experimentation. Some thought computers would be the new television and while that has recently started to seem possible again at that point it simply did not work out.

Instead as the dot com bubble burst in the late 90′s the internet once again became a wasteland of nerd experimentation but now the nerd seed had been planted in folks who previously might have been turned off by all the science fiction and the math. As the aughts progressed and the internet became the hot bed of commerce folks always seemed to know it might become another world grew and in many ways it was just an outgrowth of what the web was to begin with. Those message boards were becoming the blog. “The Blog” was becoming just the most basic element of Web 2.0. A world of “user generated content.” No longer were people logging onto the web to go to sites about things they wanted to read about. Now they were created those sites. The shock waves of this were felt very quickly and became compounded as new platforms particularly social networking sites (Friendster begat MySpace, MySpace begat Facebook etc.) made people more and more comfortable and even addicted to sharing themselves and their opinions on the web.

Blogging of course remains somewhat niche but as reading friends and strangers thoughts and interests on the net became more acceptable and through trial and error more reliable blogging became more significant. Soon those blogs were affecting big businesses and politics in measurable ways. A blog site could suddenly break a news story or create a new meme. You blog for free of course and this meant that there was always going to be some muck to wade through but excitingly the cream always tended to rise to the top. It was a meritocracy in every sense of the word.

While many people continue to simply use the web for funny quotes and fun short stories even these things have taken on more weight, launching careers. In all everything we do in our society has seemingly been infiltrated by The Blog. It is truly a revolution.

FingBing.com is a part of http://www.ajblognetwork.com/, a blogging network. Check out more content from Fing Bing, and dozens of other blog sites by visiting http://www.ajblognetwork.com/.

To start a business one must be social and public as dealing with the outside world is must in a business. As technology is majorly taking part in every business irrespective of the sector, you have to arrange a lot of IT infrastructure for this. The infrastructure may have computers, fax machines, printers, routers and other necessary networking devices. To manage all these things effectively a suitable IT infrastructure management should be performed.

The experienced and expert technical staff; with the help of remote access software help the people who do not have technical knowledge and support them remotely. They provide their assistance with the help of emails and via phone calls. The use of the remote PC support products is very extensive and they help in getting the root cause of the issue. The modern solutions helps the user in monitoring the network and take the administration of the computer system that may be situated in the local network or even on web also.

We find different PC support tools and solutions in the market offered by most of the IT support firms that are available according to our requirements. They can be chosen for some free trials or can directly be hired on a monthly subscription basis. They are available for home users also and they can take the trial versions also. These can be used like the windows remote desktop connection also. But the free wares have fewer features enabled as compared to the paid version.

The PC control suite makes the work easier by helping in providing the technical assistance to the users and customers. For the network administrators doing the task of fixing the issues related to networks and software updates, all the work can be done sitting on a remote location with the help of the remote support software. It is fast and easy and different other nodes in the network can be accessed and the problem can be fixed.

With this it also proves to be a good tutor as well. For example if the user of any software or program want to know about any option he is unable to find as you can easily access his PC and can show on his PC about what he wants. You can easily provide tuition remotely about any tool or service to the subscriber. The remote assistance suites have text and voice chat option so that the users get quick help in need. This also helps the business owners to provide guidance to their customers about their products and services.

Ankur Kumar Batwani is working as a Digital Marketing Executive in ProVal Technologies. It is providing remote infrastructure management services and MSP noc support to its clients and work as their own IT department. It gives a free and relaxing atmosphere by taking charge of the technical issues proactively.

Social engineering is commonly understood to mean the art of manipulating people into performing actions or divulging confidential information. While it is similar to a confidence trick or simple fraud, the term typically applies to trickery or deception for the purpose of information gathering, fraud, or computer system access; in most cases the attacker never comes face-to-face with the victims.

I am going to talk about a skim used by spammers to harvest for legitimate email address from your contact list. There are plenty of ways used to harvest emails, but the one I am focusing on is “Email forwarding”

Normally when you create an email account, you will start building contact list, containing email addresses of your friends, relatives, co-workers, etc. Over time, you will have a substantial number of contacts in your contact book.

Email forwarding

“Forward” is a very handy function available in almost all email clients, this allows one to pass over the email to some other recipient. But something to note is; the forwarded mail includes the email address of the original sender and any other forwarded addresses of the same instance.

Email harvesting scenario

Say you are a GoodGuy with your email and 50 contacts on your mail account. The BadGuy sends you a mail with a very emotional religious message, or a very nice joke, or an irresistible offer to something that you are likely to fall for, and guilt’s you into forwarding to at least 10 friends including the BadGuy. And you end up doing that, with good faith. Now 10 friends from your contact will receive your humbled mail message, with the instructions to do the same, “forward to at least 10 friends”. At the same time the BadGuy receives a copy of any forward from the recursive senders.

Simply put, if you forward the mail to 10 contacts, and they do the same in good faith and the third circle does the same. “Roughly something like this happens”

1 + 10^1 + 10^2 + 10^3 approximately 1000 email contacts will have been harvested in just three circles, now this will keep growing depending on the number of forwards to the amount of contacts forwarded to. And then you and your friends start receiving some commercial mails from services that you never even visited or heard of. And you wonder how on earth they did they get my email. Well, you gave it to them; you actually helped them get even some of your friend’s emails.

This is the effect of social engineering, the mail will play with your psychological consciousness, and you will think you are doing a good thing to respond; in return you are falling for somebodies social engineering scam.

Solution

There is no software to fight social engineering attacks, because it is you that you will end up giving up information, or executing some processes, or allowing some application to do something on your private sensitive information. The important thing is to build awareness, change the culture of the way we operate and disclose sensitive information.

To avoid becoming a victim of a social engineering attack:
Be suspicious of unsolicited contacted from individuals seeking internal organizational data or personal information.Do not provide personal information or passwords over email or on the phone.Do not provide information about your organization.Pay attention to website URLs that use a variation in spelling or a different domain (e.g.,.com vs..net).Verify a request’s authenticity by contacting the company directly.Install and maintain anti-virus software, firewalls, and email filters.
If you think you are a victim of a social engineering attack:
Report the incident immediately.Contact your financial institution and monitor your account activity.Immediately change all of your passwords.Report the attack to the police, and file a report with the authority.
I am Phesto Enock Mwakyusa, Owner and founder of Qusaz intelligent solutions Ltd. I am a software engineer by profession, currently working in Helsinki. I love what I do. I also do professional training on different ICT related subjects on demand, I like adventures road trips, exploring the beauty of Gods creation. I love music, listening and playing. It has great emotional power in me, and lifts my spirit high. Easy going and I like reading about new technology, impacts and also write my opinions and thoughts through my blogs and article databases like this.

Technology today is a great deal different than it was as little as 10 years ago. The way we communicate continually evolves. From pagers to the first cell phone, and from the first cell phone to today’s smart phone, the tools we use to communicate continue to evolve and advance.

For example, the Bluetooth headset-an advance in technology all by itself-is an extension of the old plug-in headset. When headsets first hit the market, they were like huge headphones with a c-shaped mouth piece that protruded prominently in front of your mouth when in use. Then they looked like a single headphone with a distal mouthpiece, until recently when people are seen walking down the street who appear to be talking to themselves because of the small-sized ear piece they are using to hear and speak with.

Such ear pieces are now officially recognized as the Bluetooth wireless headset and are frequently used by those who have office jobs and need their hands free, as well as for those who need to have constant access to their calls without the distraction of actually picking up and answering the phone. It is helpful when driving, in the office, or just around the home to have the ability to be mobile and available without the distraction of wires or cords. Almost every electronic you own probably has wires. Your TV, your stereo, even your game system, in which the same theory applies pertaining to the whole wireless remote breakthrough. The point is, wires are inevitable — almost.

Bluetooth wireless headsets were a significant technological breakthrough and a huge success among multi-taskers and business people alike, but bluetooth technology doesn’t stop there. Bluetooth is also built into a wide range of things from cars to medical equipment. Not only is bluetooth trusted by many companies to provide reliable wireless connectivity, but on the wireless headset itself, the signal doesn’t have to travel very far, as it uses a low amount of power, thus limiting strain on your device’s battery and increasing the appeal level for consumers.

The bluetooth wireless headset is easy to use because they automatically connect to your device within about 30 feet. They’re fairly inexpensive, they are compatible with many devices, and the best part is that they are upgradable. Upgrading your bluetooth device is easy and doesn’t change what your device can do because the technology still remains. Based on that information, it seems logical to invest in the bluetooth wireless headset. Since wireless seems to be the technology of choice for emerging communications, you can count on it being around for a long while.

WirelessOEMShop is a leading supplier of the Bluetooth wireless headset, as well as OEM and cellular accessories including cell phone chargers, cell phone batteries, and cell phone battery door products.
